Marc André Bertet brings a superior academic background and a breadth of knowledge and experience to the field of family law.
He has successfully handled complex marital dissolution proceedings with challenging financial, property, and custody issues. Mr.
Bertet has structured sophisticated settlements on behalf of clients with substantial wealth whose estates have consisted of varied and significant assets in real property, trusts, investments, partnership and corporate entities. He also has valuable experience in civil litigation, having represented clients in civil rights and employment law actions; his background in civil litigation is an invaluable asset to his practice of family law.
Mr. Bertet majored in History at the University of California, Los
Angeles, graduating summa cum laude from the university's prestigious
Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. He received his
Law Degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, in 2001, and was
admitted to practice in California in January 2002. While at Loyola Law School, Mr. Bertet was
recognized for writing a Top 10 Brief in the annual Scott Moot Court Competition. He also received the
First Honors Award in Antitrust.
Mr. Bertet was recognized as a contributor to the January, 2007 CEB publication Dividing
Pensions and Other Employee Benefits in California Divorces, Chapter 2, Initial Procedures and Pretrial
Orders.
Mr. Bertet also co-authored a chapter on Fiduciary Duty Between Spouses in the 2008 Family
Law Symposium Reference Book in May 2008 for the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
He was recognized on the 2009 Southern California Rising Stars list, featuring outstanding
young lawyers in the July 2009 issue of Los Angeles magazine and Southern California Super Lawyers -
Rising Stars Edition.
He is currently a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California, the Los
Angeles County Bar Association, and the Beverly Hills Bar Association. Mr. Bertet was a member of
the planning committee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association's 40th Annual Family Law
Symposium, held in May 2008. He is also an active member of a unique study group of family law
practitioners from prestigious family law firms in Los Angeles.
Mr. Bertet is an active member of The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AlPAC) and
attends AlP AC's annual policy conference in Washington D.C. each year to work with and educate
Members of the United States Congress on significant and current issues affecting Israel and the United
States.
