Heidi L. Madzar has been exclusively practicing family law in the Los Angeles community for the past twenty years. She works primarily on cases with sophisticated family law issues involving complex child custody, valuation and division issues, and complex support cases with extraordinarily high income-earner clients. She has handled prominent cases involving high net worth individuals in many different fields, including sports and entertainment, business executives, philanthropists, doctors, attorneys, and entrepreneurs. She has also handled paternity matters for professionals in the sports and entertainment industries, where she has used unique and creative solutions to resolve complicated child custody and child support issues to protect the interests of her clients.
Ms. Madzar majored in economics at Pitzer College, Claremont, California. She received her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in December 1997 and was admitted to practice law in California and in the United States District Court in 1998. While at Southwestern University School of Law, Ms. Madzar was a staff writer on Southwestern’s Law Review.
Immediately following law school, Ms. Madzar worked as a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Tax Division in 1998. Ms. Madzar is also a 2011 graduate of the preeminent litigation skills course dedicated exclusively to family law at the National Family Law Trial Institute in Houston, Texas.
Ms. Madzar has a long tradition of involvement in charitable and public service organizations. She volunteers her services to the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Domestic Violence Project at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse to help victims of domestic violence obtain court protection and has done pro bono work for the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law. She has also worked with legal aid programs in the state and assisted low-income families with family law problems.
Ms. Madzar is a member of the Family Law sections of the State Bar of California, Los Angeles County Bar Association, and Beverly Hills Bar Association.
